Welcome to my humble site. Here's some info about what I do..

I am an Applied Scientist interested in the intersection of causal inference, machine learning and experimentation.  I received my Ph.D. in Economics and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, my research focusing on applications of behavioral economics, like the design of informational and monetary incentives, the impact of recommender systems on reviewer behavior and others. Besides research, I am a reviewer for Goodreads, Amazon and Google and I blog about all-things applied science. Don’t forget to check out my resources for AI and education.

Current activities and whereabouts

Besides doing behavioral science at Zillow, I am resuming research on academic papers that I developed during my PhD. I have recently received a Revise & Resubmit from AEJ: Microeconomics, a top-field economics journal for my paper “Incentives or Persuasion? An Experimental Investigation” which I am working along with my coauthors Giorgio Coricelli and Alexander Vostroknutov to revise. Concurrently, I am revising my paper “Relativity and Habit Formation in Life Satisfaction” with my coauthor Arie Kapteyn at the USC Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR) – An incredible research hub, check it out!

So.. ok yeah I’m a nerd, but I do have a life too! I love working out, and now that gyms are closed (ahh the good times) I am finding creative ways to keep those muscles from completely flattening out. I have also discovered the most fun cardio ever in Les MillsBodyCombat video series, which I religiously follow along with Amy Mahler and Youngmin Ju. I’ve also become a plant dad to several plants which I am trying hard not to kill. Finally I am currently reading David & Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell and listening to the audiobook of “On Purpose Leadership: Discover the Art of Leading Yourself to Inspire and Impact Others” by a person I greatly look up to, Dominick Quartuccio. Check out his podcast The Great Man Within.
